From the popular Harpersfield Covered Bridge MetroPark to the under-construction Western Reserve Greenway/Trail, the years 2000 and 2001 promise exciting times for Recreation, Conservation, and Economic Growth in Ashtabula County. Construction of the Greenway's surface will begin in the Spring of 2001. It will traverse our entire county, entering near Orwell and ending at the Ashtabula Harbor. The Ashtabula County Parks District was established pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code by Judge J. Philip Perry in December 1959. The aims of the original board were to create historical and recreational parks as well as conservation areas. These aims have not changed throughout the years. The board consists of three members, appointed by the court, to serve 3-year terms without compensation. Current members are Charlie Kohli, Karen Rang and Richard Coski.
